CJ began playing piano at the age of six, studying under his father, Scott Jones, using the Simply Music method. Over the years, he has developed an expressive and versatile style, achieving outstanding success across classical, baroque, contemporary, and modern repertoire.

His talent has been recognised through exceptional results at the Launceston Competitions, where he earned numerous first-place awards across multiple age divisions. He has also received several prestigious honours, including awards from the Launceston City Council, the Tasmanian Music Excellence Award for Most Promising Competitor, and the Edward Weasley Memorial Award for Best Piano Player.

A defining moment in CJ's career came with his appearance on the ABC television series The Piano, where he was selected to perform and progressed through to the final episode at the Sydney Recital Hall, introducing his remarkable talent to a national audience.

CJ has also appeared as a special guest artist in two ABC Classic 100 Concerts at Hamer Hall in Melbourne.

An accomplished and experienced performer, CJ has entertained audiences at the Princess Theatre, Sydney Recital Hall, MONA FOMA, Albert Hall in Launceston, and as the resident pianist for the Launceston Jazz Club. He regularly performs at corporate events, festivals, community events, and aged care facilities, connecting with audiences of all ages through his engaging performances.

Throughout his career, CJ has had the opportunity to perform alongside respected artists including Guy Sebastian, Andrea Lam, and Ed Tulsa.
